EMSOF – COVID 19 Federal Rescue Funding Enhancement Legislation

Representative Causer plans to introduce legislation to provide additional funding to augment our Commonwealth’s Emergency Medical Services Operating Fund (EMSOF). For more information, click here.

Chemicals: Classification and Cleanup

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of man-made chemicals that can enter our bodies through drinking water, which can have significant negative long-term effects, such as low infant birth weight, a weakened immune system, and even cancer. These chemicals were evident in certain firefighting foams that were used in former Navy and Air National Guard bases decades ago and are now contaminating the surrounding areas. In an effort to help our communities clean up these contaminated areas. Representative Isaacson plans to introduce legislation that will attach the problem in three ways. Opioid bill – Add Narcan/Naloxone to ABC-MAP

Representative Cox plans to reintroduce legislation which will add information to the prescription drug monitoring program (ABC-MAP) when Narcan / Naloxone is used to combat an overdose by emergency responders or medical professionals. For more information, click here.

Creation of the UAS Innovation Fund

Representative Schroeder plans to introduce legislation creating the UAS Innovation Fund. This legislation will create an annual grant program that will incentivize both public and private entities to develop, embrace, and integrate this technology, thus resulting in the further growth of the UAS industry while creating new jobs and opportunities within the commonwealth. Felony penalties for individuals who block emergency personnel from conducting their life-saving duties

Senator Mastriano plans to introduce legislation that would significantly increase penalties for individuals who obstruct emergency vehicles from passing through a roadway. Penalties would also increase for individuals who block a police station, fire station, ambulance station or hospital entrance. For more information, click here.

Fire and Emergency Medical Services Loan Program

Senator Stefano plans to introduce legislation implementing the ballot question as well as ensuring representation on the Loan Program’s Application Review Committee to the PA Professional Firefighters Association, the PA Career Chiefs Association, as well as the Department of Community and Economic Development and the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. For more information, click here.
